Rajju Mangalya Vridhisyath, this sloka means to ensure longeivity of spouse. Take note, out of all the kootas, Rajju Porutham has been given the utmost importance.
In Rajju Porutham, each star is classified as a body part as shown below. If the (Janma Nakshatra) stars of both the girl and the boy are found to be represent in the same portion of the body such as head for both or a foot for both then it signifies that there is no agreement between the stars.
| Shiro Rajju (Head) | Kanta Rajju (Neck) | Nabhi Rajju (Naval) | Kati Rajju (Thigh) | Pada Rajju (Feet) |
| Chitra, Mirgasira, Dhanishta | Ardra, Rohini, Swati, Hasta, Sravana, Satabisha | Krithika, Uttarafalguni, Punarvasu, Visaka, Purvabadra, Uttrashada | Pushya, Bharani, Purva Phalguni, Anuradha, Uttarabadra and Purvashada | Aswini, Aslesha, Magha, Moola, Jyeshta and Revati |
This is how their interpretation goes:
- if the stars of both are found to be in the same portion as the head, the husband will not live long
- if the portion is the neck for both then the wife will not live long
- if they are the same as for the middle portion, then it means that progeny will be affected
- If the stars represent the same portion for both under the thigh, it may lead to poverty
- if the foot is the body portion which the stars of both are found to represent then it is interpreted as travel accidents/Husband or Wife is always away or travelling or Aimless Wandering
Then each Nakshatra body part can be further classified into Aarohana (Rising) and Avarohana which means descending.
